Guardian

Texas School Safety Training Program, belter known as "Guardian Program", is authorized under the Texas Government code section 411.1901.  A qualified handgun instructor certified in school safety under this section may provide school safety training, including instruction in the following subject subjects:
1.  The protection of students;

2.  The interaction of license holders with first responders;

3.  Tactics for denying an intruder entry into a classroom or school facility; and

4.  Methods for increasing a license holder's accuracy with a handgun while under duress.

Training from D.P.S. certified School Safety Instructors using D.P.S. curriculum and meeting all T.E.A regulations

Day 1 (8 hours)

  • 50 round live fire Pre-Qualification- 90% (225) score on LTC qualification

  • Pre-Qualification Written Test- based on existing LTC laws and regulations (90% required)

  • ​DPS certified Curriculum 

Day 2 (8 hours)
  • Scenario Training by Certified School Safety Instructors
  • Shooting Under Duress Training
  • Shooting under duress live-fire proficiency using hostage targets
  • Final written exam (90% required)
